Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing
Penn State Beaver offers Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing workshop to high school students
Penn State Beaver’s Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, in partnership with the Digital Foundry at New Kensington, is expanding access to its tuition-free Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing workshop to include high school juniors and seniors.
The 12-hour workshop, delivered over three evening sessions, introduces participants to key concepts in modern manufacturing, including automation, robotics, digital technologies, and smart manufacturing. The fall 2025 session will be held in person from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. December 2-4 on Penn State Beaver's campus. All program costs are covered through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration.
Opening Doors for High School Learners
Previously geared toward job seekers and career changers, the workshop now welcomes qualified high school juniors and seniors, offering them a valuable head start toward high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing. Participants will benefit from:
- Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies
- Early career exploration opportunities before college or technical training
- No tuition cost, thanks to full grant funding
By expanding access to younger learners, Penn State Beaver aims to spark early interest in advanced manufacturing and strengthen the region’s future workforce pipeline.
This 12-hour workshop was designed for individuals looking at career opportunities in advanced manufacturing. It covers the fundamentals needed in manufacturing now and into the future, including digital technologies, automation, robotics and building needed skills in digital/smart manufacturing technologies. The workshop consists of 3 sessions, 4 hours per session, including breaks.
