Transfer Students

Start a new story at Penn State Beaver

There are many reasons students consider transferring from their current college. If you are thinking about transferring to Penn State and have concerns about how your course work will transfer, meeting academic program prerequisites, or managing your timeline, let us help you through the transfer process.

Are you a transfer student?

Students are eligible to transfer to Penn State Beaver if they:

  • Have earned a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Are in good academic standing at their previous colleges.
  • Have attempted or will have attempted 18 or more semester hours of college course work at a regionally accredited college or university before enrolling at Penn State. Please note: Transfer status is based on credits earned after high school graduation.

Dual Admissions Program

Penn State's Commonwealth Campuses have partnered with Pennsylvania community colleges to provide a seamless transfer process for students seeking to complete a four-year degree at Penn State. Students in this program can be advised by a Penn State admissions counselor as well as advising at your Pennsylvania Community College.

Students who are currently enrolled in a Pennsylvania community college and planning to attend one of Penn State's Commonwealth Campuses are eligible to apply to this program. You will receive a conditional offer of admission to a Penn State Commonwealth Campus and will be assigned a Penn State User ID and login. During the last semester of enrollment at the community college you will submit a transfer application and official transcripts from your community college and any other colleges or universities attended via MyPennState Portal.

CCBC, CCAC or BC3 students

Penn State Beaver has comprehensive articulation agreements with CCBC, CCAC, and BC3, which allow many community college students to complete their coursework and transfer to Penn State to complete a baccalaureate degree.

Penn State will waive the application fee for CCBC, CCAC, and BC3 transfer students. For more information, email [email protected].

Save thousands of dollars by transferring to Penn State Beaver

Students who enroll at Pennsylvania community colleges and transfer to Penn State Beaver or another commonwealth campus can earn a baccalaureate degree at considerable savings.

You can save thousands of dollars in tuition by enrolling at one of Penn State’s 19 commonwealth campuses instead of at Penn State University Park. And by adding a RaiseMe Transfer Award, you can earn up to $7,000 more over two years of enrollment at Penn State.

The best part is you can start earning your Penn State RaiseMe transfer scholarship while you are working toward graduation at a community college. Earn microscholarships for things you’re already doing, such as getting good grades, participating in co-curricular activities, and volunteering in your community. When you transfer to Penn State, your microscholarships will be converted to a Penn State scholarship.

How to become a Penn Stater

  1. Create a MyPennState profile. Note: If you schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor, we’ll waive the $65 application fee.
  2. Fill out the application in your MyPennState profile. Have a copy of your high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores available so you can fill out the Self-Reported Academic Record.
  3. Review your MyPennState checklist for prompts to ensure all required supporting materials have been received. These may include: official final high school transcript, GED, college transcript, or DD 214, as well as SAT or ACT scores, if applicable. These may be mailed or faxed to our office. Once all materials have been received, your application will be considered complete.
  4. After receiving your offer of admission, pay the $230 registration fee. Students planning to live on campus should also pay the $100 housing fee and complete the online housing contract.
  5. Congratulations! You’re officially a Penn Stater. Check your email regularly for information about your next steps.
