Class of 2024 votes to establish the UPUA Basic Needs Endowment

At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.

Speaker series to feature arborist, biology professor

Trees, how they can have a positive impact on local communities, and forestry research will be the upcoming topics of The Current’s next speaker series event. Sponsored by RiverWise and Penn State Beaver, certified arborist Jeff Karwoski and Penn State Beaver Assistant Professor of Biology Autumn Sabo will be the featured speakers for this free community event on Nov. 29 at Penn State Beaver.

Beaver campus officer recognized for drug awareness work

Penn State University Police Officer April Martin was recognized with the Community Values Award for her work to bring awareness of the danger of taking non-prescribed drugs, and especially the danger of fentanyl-laced pills, to Penn State Beaver students.

'The Current' returns Oct. 4 to Penn State Beaver with filmmaker Kevin Schreck

Penn State Beaver and RiverWise will host “The Current” at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Student Union Building Auditorium and Lodge at Penn State Beaver. The featured speaker will be documentary filmmaker Kevin Schreck, the 2023 visiting filmmaker at Robert Morris University. “The Current” launched in the spring of 2023 and is a discussion forum designed to generate conversations about what Beaver County has been and what it is becoming.

Summer sports camps keep kids moving

Penn State Beaver summer sports camps are always popular with local youth. This year the volleyball camp saw continued attendance growth, and the campers had a chance to work with a special guest coach.
