MONACA, Pa. — Dr. Elizabeth Zona will present “Beyond the Buzz: Understanding Alcohol’s Impact on Students” at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Penn State Beaver Auditorium.

Zona, a 2002 Penn State graduate, is a double board-certified physician, specializing in both anesthesiologist and addiction medicine. Zona, who attended Penn State Beaver, is chief of the anesthesia department at the Three Rivers Endoscopy Center and the medical director for Addiction Medicine Services at Laurel Care Treatment Services.

Zona will speak about how to make informed choices and to understand the impact of alcohol.

"Attending an alcohol awareness event like 'Beyond The Buzz' empowers college students to make informed choices, fosters a supportive community, and provides valuable resources for understanding the impacts of alcohol on health, academic success and athletics,” Penn State Beaver Nurse Jessica Judy said.

The “Beyond the Buzz” event is free and open to the public.

“We are so excited to have Dr. Zona return to campus because she offers students, faculty and staff, and our community a unique opportunity to engage with a leading expert whose insights can inspire healthier choices, promote responsible drinking, and enhance our understanding of alcohol's effects on our lives," Judy said.

Zona’s appearance is part of a two-year program at Penn State Beaver to educate young people about the dangers of drinking and drugs. This program is funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board; the content of this ad may not represent the views of the PLCB.
