Assistant Teaching Professor, Chemistry
Michael Baker Building, Room 111

Claudia Tanaskovic, assistant teaching professor of chemistry, teaches general chemistry lectures and laboratories, organic chemistry, problem-solving in chemistry, and experimental chemistry.

In her classroom, students can expect to engage in hands-on learning and to work on collaborative projects with students in other disciplines.

Professor Tanaskovic’s classroom is one where students are given clear expectations and feel physically and emotionally safe, respected, and encouraged to actively learn and participate. She helps students bridge the gap between laboratory learning and practical, real-word applications in industries.

Students in her classes work with a variety of techniques and scientific instruments to analyze, identify, and characterize organic and inorganic compounds. These instruments are crucial for understanding the structure, properties, and behavior of molecules in chemical reactions and processes.

Professor Tanaskovic also teaches EDGE (Experiential Digital Global Engagement) classes which pair Penn State Beaver students with students at international universities to complete a project.

Her classes prepare students for careers as a:

  • Chemical engineer
  • Chemist
  • Biochemist
  • Environmental scientist
  • Forensic scientist
  • Toxicologist
  • Chemical technician
  • Pharmacologist
  • Quality control chemist
  • Geochemist
  • Water control chemist
  • Food chemist
