The annual soul food dinner at Penn State Beaver has become a Black History Month tradition over the past six years, but this year the event is expanding to include local artists who highlight the theme of Black excellence.

Managing forest edge habitats to maintain a gradient of canopy cover and plant density could be key to conserving some threatened native plant species such as wild lupine, according to Penn State researchers, who said edge habitats along roadways and utility rights-of-way provide prime opportunities to promote rare native plant populations.

Jill Tress, who passed away in November, was the coordinator of the Center for Academic Achievement at Penn State Beaver for 12 years, overseeing tutoring and disability services. She is remembered for her many contributions to the campus.
During finals week, Penn State University Libraries offers stress-reducing games and activities to help students relax as they study for finals and complete end-of-semester projects.
Penn State will celebrate its ninth GivingTuesday on Tuesday, Nov. 28 — and Penn State Beaver invites alumni and friends to participate by showing support for the Student Success Committee, which is dedicated to helping students adjust to college life and to supporting their academic and personal success.
At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.
