Penn State Beaver has welcomed two new members to its advisory board, Julia McDowell and Scott Mayhew. McDowell, a Penn State Beaver alumna, is vice president of the Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence for Highmark. Mayhew is the maintenance, turnaround and construction director for Shell Polymers at the company's Monaca site.

The Patch Project, an initiative between Penn State Beaver and local nonprofit Reforest Our Future, aims to restore natural elements to the local landscape. Ten small patches of forest will be planted around Beaver County. The project is being completed with funds from the inaugural Commonwealth Campus Undergraduate Community-Engaged Research Award.
The Penn State Extension office in Beaver County has relocated to Penn State Beaver campus in Monaca from its previous location on Third Street in Beaver. An open house for the public will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 18.
