MONACA, Pa. — Jimmy Knepper and Kyle Buzza of Moon High School won the Penn State Beaver Science Challenge on Friday.

Do those names sound familiar? That’s because Knepper and Buzza also took two of the top three spots at Tuesday’s Beaver Math Competition.

Not a bad week.

Another Moon team, made up of Sean Kennedy and Isabella Montanaro, took second place in the Science Challenge. Mark Richardson and Zach Mueller of South Side High School placed third.

The annual Science Challenge tests students’ biology, chemistry and physics laboratory skills. Twenty-eight students from seven area high schools competed this year.

Beaver Chemistry Instructor Claudia Tanaskovic coordinates the event.
