"The Current in the Community: Lessons from the East Palestine Train Derailment" will be held April 13 in The Baby Bello, 2200 Ninth Ave., in Beaver Falls. The event will feature an art gallery, documentary short film and a panel discussion that seeks to both honor those impacted by the February 2023 train derailment in Ohio and highlight what this environmental disaster means for the future of the region.
Carey McDougall has been named as the new chancellor and chief academic officer of Penn State Beaver. McDougall has been serving as the campus' interim chancellor since July 1, 2023.
The Penn State Beaver community is remembering the late John Chapin, who has been granted posthumous emeritus status. A memorial service was held on campus on Friday, April 12, for Chapin, a longtime professor of communications, who died in March.
