Beaver women's basketball wins 2016 PSUAC title

MONACA, Pa. — The Penn State Beaver women’s basketball team beat Penn State Hazelton 61-59 on Feb. 23 night to win its fourth consecutive Penn State University Athletic Conference title.

The women also clinched a berth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament. The fifth seed, they will play the University of Maine Augusta on March 3 in Uniontown.

It is the team’s seventh appearance in the national tournament in the past eight years. Last year, the women won the national title.

Team members also earned individual accolades this week. Senior guards Khalia Adams and Morgan Kurtz were named PSUAC First Team All-Conference. Sophomore forward Brittany Jackson, who led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds Tuesday night, and junior forward Asia Borders were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
