Penn State campuses partner on MLK Day service projects

Students from six Penn State campuses, including Penn State Behrend, participated in public service projects in Erie on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They repaired bicycles, ran bingo games and sorted clothes at a community shelter.

Will Taylor, an Americorps VISTA intern at Penn State Behrend, and Ashlyn Kelly, a senior at the college, paint a hallway at the Lodge on Sass, a transitional housing shelter in Erie. A total of 50 Penn State students contributed to service projects in Erie on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Certified Recovery Specialist program available to recovering addicts

This spring, Penn State Beaver Continuing Education will offer a Certified Recovery Specialist Training program as part of its curriculum. Research has shown that peer recovery support services not only help addicts remain engaged in the recovery process, but also reduce the likelihood of relapse.

Penn State Beaver joins local universities in creating historic partnership

Penn State Beaver, the Community College of Beaver County, Geneva College and Robert Morris University unveiled the Bridges and Pathways College Partnership, a consortium dedicated to improving the lives of Beaver Valley residents through access to education, cultural events and economic opportunities.

Sustainability community program expands across Commonwealth with PepsiCo funds

Five Penn State campuses have been awarded PepsiCo Challenge Mini Grants to expand community engagement efforts through Penn State’s Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC). Penn State Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Behrend and Brandywine will take part in a three-year pilot program to expand the SCC to Penn State communities outside of University Park.
