Penn State and Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, announced the awarded grants of the third round of the Collaboration Program, a jointly financed seed program with the aim to collaborate on research and education projects. The first two cycles of the program provided funding to 34 projects. The two institutions committed these seed funds for a third round, and funded five projects around the topic of Global Challenges or Matters of Bilateral Importance to Australia and the United States.
Carey McDougall, chief academic officer at Penn State Beaver, has been named the campus’ interim chancellor, effective July 1. McDougall succeeds Chancellor Jenifer Cushman, who recently was named president of the University of Maine at Augusta. A national search will be conducted to find a permanent chancellor for Penn State Beaver.
Penn State Beaver is providing students with opportunities to improve their networking skills as they prepare to search for internships and jobs. During the 2022-23 academic year, the campus held two networking events for students. The success of those events is acting as a springboard for more networking opportunities for students in the 2023-24 academic year.
Penn State Beaver Chancellor Jenifer Cushman will be leaving the University to become president of the University of Maine at Augusta, starting her new position on July 1.
Penn State Beaver and RiverWise are hosting “The Current” at 6:30 p.m. May 17 in the Student Union Building Lodge at Penn State Beaver. The featured speaker will be Robin Bower, associate professor of Spanish in comparative literature at Penn State Beaver, who will talk about the power of storytelling to connect people across divides.
A new research program for students will be launched this coming fall: The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses Undergraduate Student Research Fund aims to support student-led projects in different fields. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in research, scholarship, and artistic efforts. They will be responsible for creating their own research problems, study proposals, methodologies, and presenting their findings.
De-stress Fest takes place at five branch libraries across the University Park campus and at 12 Penn State campuses across the commonwealth, offering free snacks, games, activities, art therapy and other stress-management options, which vary with location.
