CLEP Testing

CLEP Testing

The Office of Continuing Education offers testing for the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP).

Administered by the College Board, CLEP provides college credit for examinations that test college-level knowledge in specific disciplines. It is a nationally recognized series of examinations that allows the student to demonstrate knowledge acquired in a non-college setting.

A schedule of credit awarded by Penn State for CLEP examinations is available online at

Information for veterans

As a result of the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004, veterans can now receive reimbursement for CLEP fees from the Veterans Administration (VA).

To take advantage of this benefit, veterans must pay for their CLEP examination and administration fee at the time of testing. They may seek reimbursement for all fees from the VA after taking the exam.
