Beaver Drops to Geneseo

Cresson, PA - The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions ended its four game winning streak after falling to SUNY Geneseo in the championship game of the Hampton Inn Coaches Vs. Cancer tournament.
Beaver played well in the first half and led until the last few minutes, when Geneseo pulled ahead by six (31-37). In the second half, the team only shot 27.6% and were also out-rebounded. Falling further and further behind, Geneseo took the win by 24 points (54-78).
High scorers for the Lady Lions were Junior Noelle Miloszewski (Blackhawk/Beaver Falls, PA) with 13 points and Junior Jasmine Green (Orange/Jersey City) with 11. Green and Junior Jessica Bartges (East Allegheny/Pittsburgh, PA) were both selected for the All-Tournament Team.
With the loss, Beaver is now 4-1 and hosts Geneva College on Tues., Nov. 24th at 6 p.m.
Lady Lions Run Win Streak to Four, Down Mount Aloysius

Cresson, PA- The Lady Lions defeated host Mount Aloysius in the first round of the Hampton Inn Coaches vs Cancer tournament by the score of 66-50.
The defense came out on fire, holding the Mounties to 5-28 (17.9%) shooting in the first half to build a 32-16 lead at the break. For the game, Beaver out rebonded their opponent 51-39 and caused 29 turnovers.
Junior Jasmine Green (Orange High School/Orange, NJ) lead all scorers with 23 points, grabbing 10 rebounds along the way as well to record her first double-double of the season. Junior Heather Sandusky (New Brighton High School/New Brighton, PA) added 17 points.
With the win, Beaver is now 4-0, and will play Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Championship game at Mount Aloysius.
Beaver Men Drop First Contest of 2009 Campaigne

Pittsburgh, PA- The Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball team dropped its first game of the season, losing 89-71 to Thiel College, in day two of the Cron Tournament at La Roche College.
In the first half, Beaver led early, but fell behind, trailing at halftime 45-40. The Tomcats took control of the second half, out rebounding Beaver 37-30. Beaver trailed by as many as 21, but were able to pull within 18, losing 89-71.
The Lions will return to action Tuesday, Novembe 24th at 8 p.m., when they host Grove City College in a non-conference affair.
Lions Roll to 66-52 Win Over Waynesburg

Pittsburgh, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team improved its record to 3-0 after defeating Waynesburg University in the first round of the La Roche College CRON's Classic.
The trio of Senior Zack Fetchin (Hopewell/Aliquippa, PA), Tim Kubis (Hopewell/Aliquippa, PA) and Anthony McPherson (Center/Aliquippa, PA) combined for 55 of Beaver's 66 points. Fetchin was just shy of a double-double with a game high 24 points and 9 rebounds, while Kubis and McPherson contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.
The Lions now advance to the championship game tomorrow, where they will compete against the Thiel College Tomcats at 6 p.m.
